Meet Chelsea

Hi, I’m Chelsea Ezell—wife, mom of four, and proud Houston Heights local. My days are filled with the joyful chaos of family life, and my kitchen is almost always filled with the smell of fresh sourdough.

My sourdough journey began in 2020 while living in Doha, Qatar. When lockdown hit, I turned to baking as both a creative outlet and a way to stay grounded. What started as a personal hobby quickly grew into a micro-bakery—I was baking and delivering up to 40 loaves a week straight from my home kitchen! Even after lockdown ended, I kept baking for a loyal circle of customers, neighbors, and friends who became part of my sourdough community.

In 2022, my family returned to Houston after my husband, Matt, was diagnosed with ALS. Life shifted dramatically, but sourdough has remained a source of joy, stability, and creativity for me. These days, I bake weekly for my kids, my husband, and the amazing friends and neighbors who support our family.

Over the past few years, I’ve shared my love of sourdough through dozens of group lessons—teaching everyone from school auction winners to bible study groups to curious friends. Each class, no matter the mix of people, has been filled with laughter, learning, and the simple joy of baking together. The feedback was so positive (and my girlfriends so persistent!) that I decided to open up my Sourdough 101 course to the public in April 2024.

I’ve refined the class experience to make it fun, approachable, and packed with all the essentials you’ll need to feel confident baking at home. You’ll leave with not only the knowledge to bake your own bread, but also the recipes, tips, and support to keep you going. In my first year, I taught 55 classes and over 600 students.

I’d love for you to join me in class—you’ll have a blast, and you’ll walk away ready to bake sourdough with confidence!
